We may also have a legal obligation to process your personal data, for example where we suspect fraud. In some cases, you have given us your consent to process your data, such as when subscribing to our newsletter. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
Who has access to your personal data?
We only share your personal data with third parties where necessary to provide our services. These parties may include delivery partners, product support providers, payment service providers, credit information agencies, IT service providers and review platforms. Our delivery partners require your address to deliver your order. Data management platforms, media and advertising agencies, and research partners may process your information where we provide personalised recommendations or display relevant advertisements based on your interests. In cases where required by law, we may also share customer information with government authorities.
Any third party processing your personal data on our behalf may only use it to provide services for Maboba. Unless they are independently responsible for processing your personal data, they are contractually required to protect it. We never sell or unnecessarily share your personal information with third parties.
Where is your personal data stored?
Your personal data is only stored where necessary, primarily within our own systems. In addition, we work with a limited number of trusted service providers, most of whom are located within the European Union (EU). Some providers, such as Google, process data outside the EU. Before transferring any personal data internationally, we ensure these providers comply with applicable privacy legislation and maintain appropriate safeguards to protect your information.
How long do we keep your personal data?
We do not retain your personal data for longer than necessary. Once the applicable retention period has expired, your data is securely deleted or anonymised where it is still required for internal reporting and analysis. Our standard retention periods are as follows:
- Recorded telephone conversations are deleted after 30 days unless we are legally required to retain them for a longer period.
- Inactive customer accounts are deleted after 7 years. After this period, only anonymous data may be retained for internal reporting purposes.
- Under Dutch tax legislation, we are required to retain invoice, payment and order information for 7 years. After that period, only anonymised data may be used for internal reporting. We also recommend keeping your purchase invoices for your own warranty records.
- If you subscribe to our newsletter or consent to receiving personalised communications, we retain proof of your consent for 5 years. If you later withdraw your consent, we also retain proof of that withdrawal. Marketing emails themselves are retained for no longer than 60 days. After that period, only anonymous information may be used for internal reporting.
What are your rights?
You remain in control of your personal data at all times. You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, receive a copy of that data, request corrections, or ask us to update your information. You may also object to the processing of your personal data for marketing purposes, challenge the outcome of a credit assessment where applicable, or object where you believe your privacy interests outweigh our legitimate interests. We will review your request carefully. You also have the right to request that we transfer your personal data to another organisation. Simply contact us by email or post and we will be happy to assist.
You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time through your customer account or by clicking the unsubscribe link included in every newsletter.
